thorn-covered branches
hostile creatures (snakes, porcupine, skunk)
Many associate “briar patch” with Uncle Remus and stories of Brer Rabit and Brer Fox (think: racist Aesop’ fables)
Plan was to associate:
incompatabilities with briar patch
compatability with safe path to swimming beach
Some metaphors deserve to die
